The queue seems as if it stretches halfway to Stockport and the spring evening sunshine picks out an incredibly young and excited crowd, some accompanied by parents, as they shuffle into the Apollo. Once inside they are so enthusiastic that even first support act Shiny Toy Guns are greeted with a shriek loud enough to pierce ears. And they make it well worth arriving early for. Purveying a far denser and rockier sound than that on debut album 'We Are Pilots', they are closer to Nine Inch Nails than the Pet-Shop-Boys-meet-Depeche-Mode comparison they often get. Mikey Martin's crashing drums are a big factor, as is a surprisingly crystal-clear sound, Jeremy Dawson's atmospheric synth and the twin vocal attack of Carah Faye Charnow and Gregori Chad Petree. 'Shaken' starts moodily before a crashing cymbal onslaught and ‘Le Disko’ and 'You Are The One' are sublime slabs of electro rock. A tremendous set, and there is easily enough quality here to suggest they could soon be headlining venues of this size themselves before long. Courtesy of Nick Thompson
