So the moment that so many people have been waiting for, the reunion of The Libertines. Preceded by a short video showing their history, The Libertines take to the stage to provide a no frills musical experience. They sound like they might have practiced a little even! Full of heart, blood, sweat and tears it's tight as can be expected and they look really quite happy to be there (£1,000,000?).
It's always been about vibe with the Libertines and tonight they have that going for them. The crowd are singing along with every single word, Pete is not necessarily remembering them all correctly but it really doesn't matter. It's almost strange to see a band that are so famed for mayhem play a professional solid set. Not necessarily a bad thing but it just goes to prove they are a different beast than they once were.
The dynamic between the two front-men was extremely interesting, one of tonnes of love from Carl to Pete with about 60% reciprocated.
Oddly the PA turns off during 'Time For Heroes' with no explanation but is straight back on for their final songs ending with 'I Get Along'. Their finger is maybe a little off the pulse nowadays but it does not matter when there is this many people loving every minute off it.
