Justice at Rivermead Leisure Complex Review

Justice @ Reading Festival, Reading
Justice's stage set up was something to behold! Walls of marshall amps and a giant glowing cross, not bad for a couple of D.J.'s. The NME/Radio 1 stage was rammed, Justice are about as current as it can get in musical culture. Electro with a fine musicality and a dark underside that gives them more of a mass appeal than the day-glow image of a lot of their peers. Festival sound can lead to a lot of bands not getting a fair chance at getting their point across but Justice manage to crank it up and pump the tent full of bass. Everybody was up for it, the atmosphere was fantastic and Justice as good as stepped up to the mark. Justice have studied at the school of Daft Punk, and they know how to work people. Their set was all about the big drops and I think this is where they went ever so slightly wrong. They had a few too many extended sections of build with the drop being a little too short. In saying that though the music itself could not be faulted. Choosing remixes and different edits of all their tunes apart from the anthemic 'We Are Your Friends' takes the listener away from keeping all ears out for their favorite bit of a song and puts them more in the moment. I was especially happy to hear the MSTRKRFT remix of D.A.N.C.E. which works better in a club than the original. Justice has an arsenal of some of the filthiest sounds around, and when you have these big fuzzy bass lines shaking your body it is like nothing else. Another year and a few screws to be tightened and you'll see them up on the main stage with lazers firing across the night sky and 20,000 people loosing their minds... in-fact Justice may have walked off with a little bit of mine tonight.
