We are all well versed in Kanye West’s unrelenting mission to be the greatest musician / fashion designer / hotel architect / soft drink bottle maker of all time. Trust us, the list goes on…

We respect his drive and creative vision, he really is one of the most entertaining entertainers of all time. Some (most) are alienated by his vision and the way he goes about articulating his outlook on life, but we are more than happy to see past his INSANITY and revel in the visions he has and the music he makes. Boy is Kanye West’s music making a fascinating realm to get lost in; his last outing ‘Yeezus’ was one of the angriest albums in recent memory and aside from universal acclaim, it really did showcase Mr West as the belligerent and frustrated person he is in real life on record for the first time.

Yeezus + Paul McCartney = a match made in musical heaven?
One side to ‘Yeezus’ that often gets overlooked is the long list of all-star collaborators involved in that project. Kanye has always been on the look-out for interesting collaborative opportunities and if recent reports in the press are to be believed, he shows no signs of locking himself away in a room to concentrate on new solo material anytime soon.

Rumours of working with James Blake were interesting, talk of teaming up with Q-Tip were great, however, New York Post offshoot Page Six reports that Kanye has been ‘secretly’ recording with Beatles frontman and British rock legend Paul McCartney. No offence to James Blake or Q-Tip, but, that right there is some serious collaborative news!!

Yeezus + Paul McCartney = a match made in musical heaven?
Paul McCartney has a glittering collaborative past. His work with Michael Jackson back in the eighties springs to mind, but it certainly doesn’t stop there. McCartney is still pro-active in the world of music making, however, we didn’t see this one coming. If reports are to be believed, the unlikely duo have been “collaborating on a number of tracks that could develop into an album”.

Much like the ridiculously speculative football transfer news that dominates every transfer window, we are not sure what to make of these reports, however, if you take everything into consideration we have a sneaking suspicion that these recording sessions may actually be happening. Will it result in a full album of material? We doubt it. Will it result in a song or two, we think so, yes. Kanye West has gained notoriety for being a perfectionist of the highest order, so it remains to be seen exactly what kind of music Paul McCartney’s rock verve and Kanye’s ignant rap style will produce. What we do know is this; it sure makes for some interesting reading and some potentially interesting listening. If anything develops here we will be sure to let you know…
