'Well the times are so a'changing..."

Arctic Monkeys are back and the album promo push is in full swing. '2013' is set to feature as the B-side to album single 'Do I Wanna Know', in the run up to latest album outing 'AM'.

The track is a homage to the weird and wonderful climate in which we are all operating in this day and age. References to the at times utopian, at other times dystopian digital climate where everything is monitored and reality can be rewinded and re-watched (you get the idea), the guys paint a strangely pessimistic/optimisitc picture of the year in which planet Earth currently spins.

Any mention of Instagram and Twitter in any song ever should be illegal we say, however, the guys from Sheffield pull off the social media comments better than most (just ask Jay Z).

Track of the Day - Arctic Monkeys '2013'
We simply love the way that the Arctic Monkeys have never rested on their musical laurels and have forever been looking to push their music making forward. '2013' is another step in the right direction. Not that they have reinvented their style for anyone at any point, not a bit of it, they have simply worked with what they are good at but continually crafted and honed their strengths from their weaknesses. Need proof? Well, as mentioned previously, '2013' is not even set to fixture on their new album which shows that they are handpicking the cream of the crop for the release but not compromising their music making standards when it comes to the B-sides and rarities.

45 thousand hits in a day. Not too shabby boys, not too shabby at all.

'AM' is scheduled for a September 9 release and features the genius that is Josh Homme.
