As we have discussed several hundred times before, 2011 was an excellent year for music. Maybe our ears were open ever-so-slightly wider than they usually are, or maybe the talent just came with the goods. We think a healthy mix of both.
In order to honour the weird, the wonderful and the not-so-great of 2011's musical melee, we are happy to announce the shortlists for the Inaugural Livemusic Awards.
There are artists who have maintained their brilliance throughout 2011 (Laura Marling), artists who have risen to prominence with their brand new and exciting music (Azealia Banks) and bands who could not be more annoying and deserve to be credited for their complete awfulness (Wu Lyf).
