The 56th Grammy Awards touched down in Los Angeles last night to reward the biggest names in music for their efforts in 2013. As many have remarked, it was one of the very best years in a long, long while and the roster of nominees certainly supported this argument.

The big winners on the night were the robotic duo from Versailles Daft Punk, who walked away with five golden gongs for the bigger categories on the night, including...

The Grammys 2014 - full winner's list
Album Of The Year ('Random Access Memories'), Record Of The Year ('Get Lucky'), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance ('Get Lucky'), Best Dance/Electronica Album ('Random Access Memories') and Best Engineered Album Non-Classical ('Random Access Memories').

Diminutive New Zealander Lorde also popped up to scoop Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for the now classic 'Royals'.

Awards aside, the event was more about the live music than anything and with a roster of live performances that included celebrity power couple Jay Z and Beyonce opening the show, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr reunited to showcase some new McCartney material and, most significantly on the night, Daft Punk teaming up with Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers to tear the roof off the Staples Centre with their first live performance since the release of the much lauded 'Random Access Memories' (see above), it really was quite the spectacle.
