An exciting band and one to certainly watch out for. After being noticed and thoroughly supported by Zane Lowe, Kill it Kid are starting to make waves in the music world.
Contributing to a genre which is somewhat lacking in the current day, the band describe themselves as playing Grunge/Blues, and quite rightly so - although the dominant label of INDIE-rock does attempt to rear its head in their current release: two singles 'Wild & Wasted Waters' and 'All To Me.'
Chris Turpins' bluesy voice is unique and memorable, his wail sticking in your mind long after you've listened to it. In the bands favour the singles both bode well even after one listen, a feat in a musical world which often releases singles, which firstly 'grate' and subsequently 'grow'. This band are refreshing, their sound is inspiring and their future is bright. They have created music which we should all welcome to the airwaves.
If one thing is to be criticised, it is their less than revolutionary lyrics, but this is a minor hiccup in an otherwise expertly crafted offering. The bands passion for what they do is apparent in the sound they create; a bluesy, heart-felt and emotional sound. 'Wild & Wasted Waters' pips the post and wins best track with its rolling drum beat, which drives any listener through a musical experience of the new, raw talent of Kill it Kid. Signed to London Indie label One Little Indian, be sure to listen out for Kill it Kid in 2012.
