Boy, if Lana Del Rey isn't careful the public will be able to listen to her entire debut album on YouTube, way before it even gets sent out for radio DJ's to leak. The encouraging thing about this steady stream of tracks is that each and every one is just about as brilliant as the last. Not only is she proving herself as a credible singer, she is also going some lengths to proving herself as a diverse artist as well.
The latest track to seep through the leaky gates is called National Anthem. On first listen, it sounds like something Jay Z would include as a filler on one of his records, but that's only before Lana starts singing. National Anthem follows suit with all of the other tracks that have been leaked previously, in the sense that it simply does not sound like any of her other tracks.
It's a pop track, but pop is pop, it will always be around but as pop goes, this is just about as good as it gets. Expect National Anthem to attack the charts, especially in Ms Del Rey's ludicrously patriotic homeland.
Now while it is great to listen to a fresh leak, it's ruthlessly clear that Lana's label bosses are unhappy about the track making its way online. They are scouting the web and blocking each and every YouTube video they can. But, as we all know, the world wide web is faster than any team of copyright cats! If the video below gets pinched back by Universal, keep hunting folks.
