As lead singles go this is the biggest in recent memory...

Rock legends Foo Fighters have really been flirting with the press over their hugely anticipated new album 'Sonic Highways'. There have been flirtatious 8-second vine videos, numerous interviews promising 'epic' and 'groundbreaking' new music, fly-on-the-wall television documentaries, revelatory-gimmick after revelatory-gimmick about the recording process (the album was recorded in eight studios in eight different American cities) and now, finally, lead single 'Something From Nothing' has exploded on the scene.

Foo Fighters return with 'Something From Nothing'
Unveiled earlier this week by (you guessed it) Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, the track has us both excited, but at the same time left us feeling that tiny bit short changed.

One thing that has been promised numerous times by Dave Grohl and his musical comrades is an album that is unlike anything they have put together before and, let's be fair, they have not showacased that with 'Something From Nothing'. What they have released is yet another stunning signature FF song and this must be commended, the tune definitely wails, it doesn't break the mould though...

Moreover, they have released their most sophisticated track in recent memory; it is rich and potent in equal measure and definitely has us extremely excited for November 10. We wanted revolution but didn't get it, what we got instead was a fantastic song that only reaffirms Foo Fighters status as one of the biggest bands in the world.

One thing for certain is the Foo Fighters have a plan and they are very much sticking to it, namely, gearing up for the rock release of the year.
