Enimem is arguably the most successful rapper on the planet. He also holds the slightly less grandiose record for having the most lawsuits filed against him, with everyone from gay rights activists to his own mother taking him to court at one time or another. The latest person to jump on the 'let's sue Eminem' bandwagon is a man named Stephen Lee Pieck. He filed the suit last month at the United States District Court in the Southern District of New York. Mr Pieck alleges to have given Eminem the idea for the 'Born of Fire' Chrysler commercial that was aired during halftime of last years Superbowl, and he wants $9 million in damages.
All this sounds normal enough, right? Well bare with us…
When Mr Pieck turned over his handwritten lawsuit to the authorities, they then noticed he had listed his address as 'homeless.' The lawsuit went on to read, "I want the court to reward me a judgment in the amount of $9 million. I designed every aspect of the commercial and the commercial was stolen from me. In addition, I did not receive compensation in monetary terms for the work I did."
So how on earth did Eminem supposably steal the idea from the homeless man? Mr Pieck claims he was having dinner at the Legal Seafood restaurant in White Plains New York in September 2009 with non-other than the
queen of poorly-applied fake tan Christina Aguilera and her then husband Jordan Bratman. He claims that X-tina phoned Eminem, and then handed him the phone where he proceeded to give Eminem the entire idea for the 'Born of Fire' commercial.
It all sounds pretty believable to us. But we can't help thinking that Mr Pieck would stand a better chance of netting the $9 million if he'd have said he and Christina were sat in a local McDonald's when the phone call took place…
