Gig Guides, Music Concert Tickets at Livemusic.fm

The 100 Club on London's retail epicentre of Oxford Street has been laying on LEGENDARY gigs for the best part of 60 years. Once threatened by closure, a gaggle of super musicians banded together to ensure that the iconic space held its place in London's musical fabric.

They succeeded.

Livemusic was lucky enough to roll up to The 100 Club last week to witness Loose Lips Records / Converse throw a party and let us tell you something, that is exactly what they did. Now, correct us if we're wrong -BUT- it's all about the little things that turn a decent gig into a special one; like a free Loose Lips compilation CD on entry for example - BOOM. Killer CD it is as well.

In all honesty, the reason that we were so hype about the loose Lips night was a certain wizz-kid from Oxford who goes by the name of Chad Valley. Having released his completely wonderful (and almost entirely faultless) debut solo outing 'Equatorial Ultravox' last year, I was stupidly excited to see how that record was going to showcase live.

Chad took to the stage, introduced himself and explained that he was going to play some music...

and that is exacly what he did.

CONVERSE AND LOOSE LIPS RECORDS @ 100 CLUB
With a set-up comprising of a number of button heavy pieces of machinery, a synth, midi keyboard and two microphones (one for vocals, the other for effects) Chad smashed through a 40 minute show like wild fire. It is bananas that Mr Valley is slept on as much as he is. His repetoire and range deserve all the plaudits one could possibly think of. Let's not beat around the bush here, Chad Valley is a thoroughly accomplished songwriter and musician. He is also charming with it (rarity much?). The future is bright for this chap, mark our words!!

Amidst Chad Valley and headliners Azari III were a gaggle of banging beats laid on by the Night Works DJ's, they successfully kept the place buzzing in between acts.

Azari III smashed the roof off the place when they took to the stage. They had the crowd pulsating track after track and going on the pungent stench of high grade doobies that were being consumed in the back stage area of the venue (we tried to get in, but failed!!) they clearly had a great time themselves. To finish things off Friendly Fires took to the turntables to showcase what they can do with music (minus the guitars and drumkits). The much maligned cameo 'DJ' set does not wash off on these guys. They really can spin with the best of them.

To conclude this gushing review I will say this; Loose Lips and Converse can pat themselves on the back for putting on a seriously entertaining evening of great, great music. My one criticism - where were the free Chuck Taylors???
