Calexico recently announced their forthcoming album, ‘Edge of the Sun’ which is scheduled for release on April 13 on legendary label City Slang, and today the Arizona indie rockers have today shared the song that we have been most excited about ever since the first album announcement ‘Falling From The Sky’.

Featuring Band of Horses' Ben Bridwell, the new single will be available as of tomorrow and really does a fanttastic job of pulling at the heartstrings of some old school indie fans like we are. Well rounded and well travelled, the combination of Calexico’s signature sound accompanied by the iconic vocal contributions of Bridewell truly seems like the perfect match. We have listened through a handful of times and we must say, this track is all sorts of wonderful.

Calexico + Band Of Horses = match made in heaven
Speaking on the single, Calexico’s Joey Burns revealed…

"It was written when landing in New Zealand, having read the children's book "The House in the Night" which has a similar phrasing as the chorus in this song … The song could be about not knowing where life is heading sometimes - there is nostalgia and an attempt to convey the importance of mystery and magic in our lives. Our instincts tell us to take giant leaps, whilst our minds remind us to be more cautious. When we find ourselves truly alone or facing our biggest challenges, it is then that we are most in tune with our true selves and the world around us, or in this case amongst the universe and stars above."

It is at times like these when we truly appreciate the world of music and moreover, the work of the true visionaries who dedicate their lives to it.

In other news, Calexico are over in the UK as part of a wider European jaunt this April / May. They will play:

April 28 - O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London
April 30 - The Albert Hall, Manchester

May 01 - Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
