Word on the street, or at least word from Damon Albarn's incredibly cultured tongue, is that Blur are jumping on the 're-building bridges' tip and are recording together again. Albarn, talking to NME, revealed that the first thing the band recorded since hitting the studio again was a spoken word piece with poet Mihhael Horovitz, in response to the prospect of Notting Hill Carnival being cancelled.
Albarn said:
"If they'd have cancelled the carnival – and thank God they didn't – maybe we'd have put it out. It had its moment: it was a perfect plea to reinstate the carnival. So it wasn't relevant – it was relevant for about 12 hours."
This will sound like music to the ears of just about every single music lover out there. We imagine a few die-hard Oasis (and Mogwai) fans will be non perplexed by the news, however, aside from those guys who doesn't like or love Blur?
Albarn now finds himself in a position where he must figure out how to fit the band in which he made his name into his wide spectrum of other projects. His brand new band 'Rocketjuice To The Moon' for starters, 'The Good, The Bad & The Queen' as well, world beating anime collective 'Gorillaz' and plans for a solo project are enough to fill up anyone's calendar year.
So what can we expect? Well, as a starter, a 4-track EP before christmas will do just fine thank you very much.
