About N-Dub
Born May 6, 1985, Namiah Wilson was raised in the small town of Hartsville, TN. Knowing that a black male in America has a statistically better chance of ending up in jail than college, his mother made sure that grades were his first priority. Even without the support of a male role model, his father left shortly after his birth, Namiah seemed well on his way to becoming a success story. He was an A student despite being raised mostly in the "bad part of town". He enjoyed success on the varsity basketball team as well as the high school marching band. After spending time over three summers traveling the globe as a People to People Student Ambassador he entered the University of Evansville. After a year and a half at UE his mother's worst fears came true as he wound up in handcuffs after a frat party. This incident coupled with his poor academic performance led to his departure from the university and his return to Hartsville. Over the course of the next three years he would bounce from job to job and attend classes sporadicly at Volunteer State Community College. It was during this time that he began to seriously use marijuana and alcohol. In August of 2005 he was placed on three months probation after a series of alcohol related incidents. In September 2006, a recent ex-girlfiend became pregnant with a child that could possibly be his. This led to a quick downward spiral in his mental well being. Torn between wanting to be a good father and the fear of being a bad one, he turned to marijuana to drown his pain. It was during this time he would meet the love of his life, with whom after a few ups and downs, he would eventually enter into a long standing relationship with. Although the child turned out not to be his, he was struck with the realization that his life was in need of a change in order to take care of himself as well as any future children he may have. He gave up marijuana and enrolled full time in college. He would also reconcile with his current girlfriend. Sensing that even though his life appeared to be turning around he still wasn't happy, she would constantly inquire as to what he felt was missing. She was the one of finally encouraged him to follow his dream of doing music which he began in September 2007. For the first time in his life he had an avenue for expression and felt complete. Shortly after the release of his first album Legend in The Making, the couple discovered they were expecting their first child together. With a loving girlfriend, a baby boy due in October, and a new album in the works, N Dub the self proclaimed New Voice of The South is prepared to give you his thoughts from his perspective, whether you want to hear it or not.
