The origins of the Brooklyn-based rock group Apes & Androids go back to a third-grade class in New Jersey where future singer/guitarists Brian Jacobs and David Tobias met. Soon they were writing music. While attending different colleges, they still wrote together long-distance, and they later reunited to form the band. Apes & Androids are known for highly theatrical live performances.
New York quintet Apes & Androids merge primal classic-rock influences with futuristic song structures. The band's live performances are becoming as well-known as the songs themselves, with cheerleaders, giant silver skulls, face paint and even a Korean drum circle all making appearances for a unique live experience. But the live shows aren't the only medium that has helped spread the band's name, since their giveaway of two tracks on Myspace they have been seriously hyped.

Great band - if only in the UK more often!
